The Scottish Music Centre is home to Scotland’s music information hub and archive, and also supports and promotes our music sector nationally and internationally. Working with musicians, composers and music organisations on a wide variety of activities and projects across all genres of music, we run a core team of 12 and a pool of over 80 freelancers nationwide.

We’re looking for an office administrator to fill a key role in running our busy open-plan office and public foyer space in Candleriggs.

Main responsibilities:

• Office management: office supply contracts, mail, repairs & maintenance and liaison with external IT consultant
• General administrative support to the Executive Director and project teams
• Answering enquiries from the music sector and the general public by email, phone and in person
• Meeting and greeting visitors
• Arranging meetings, training days and receptions in our public space
• Updating our website, databases and music directory
• Processing invoices, banking and petty cash
• Production of basic Sage reports (P&L, debtors/creditors)

Person Spec:

• Educated to degree level
• An interest in music
• Proven literacy and numeracy skills
• A working knowledge of Sage 50, Excel, Word and Wordpress
• An understanding of basic Mac and pc operating systems
• At least two years’ experience in a similar post, preferably in an arts organisation
• Organised, reliable and confident when dealing with the music sector and the general public
