Charlie MacColl RIP

Charlie MacColl, 69, originally from Acharacle, died last week.

Charlie MacColl, who ran a coal business and then a haulage business with his brother Ewen, was local convener of the hugely successful Lochaber Mod in Fort William in 2007.

He also worked hard to fund-raise for the Royal National Mod every time it was held in the Highlands.

And, at this year’s Mod in Oban, he was declared a Friend of the Royal National Mod and presented with a framed medal.

He leaves his wife Mairi and children Fiona and Calum.

Mrs MacColl said her husband was a “people person” and a “true Highland gentleman” who liked to help people.
